On arrival at the clinic for your first appointment, our front desk personnel(s) will welcome you and you would be asked to complete our new intake and other insurance forms. When the forms are completed, you will be attended to by your required therapist, who will perform your first assessment. This assessment will include a review of your medical history, diagnostic tests, and your current complaints. Your therapist will explain the outcome of his/her evaluation and treatment options to you.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete all the necessary paperwork. Your initial assessment will be about 45-60 minutes and the subsequent appointments will be 30-45 minutes. Our patients will also spend time outside of this timeframe for their exercises.
You could wear a comfortable clothing that will give easy access to the affected body area.
Be prepared to provide your previous medical or surgical history. You may also bring relevant scan/MRI reports, and your list of medications.
If you are a private patient, please bring your insurance/extended healthcare card for direct billing to your insurance, except if you would like to pay out of pocket. Also, bring your prescription or doctor’s referral if you have one; Doctor’s referral is not mandatory for physiotherapy so if you don’t have one you can still come for your physiotherapy.
If you have a car accident, you do not pay for your treatments. You simply need to come with your claim number and claim representative information. Please call your car insurance to obtain your claim information.
If you are a WCB patient, you also do not pay out of pocket, but you need to come with either your health care card or WCB claim number.
We offer direct billing to about 98% of all insurance companies. Some of these insurance companies are Alberta Blue Cross, Desjardins Insurance, Canada Life, Sun Life, Green Shield, Industrial Alliance, Johnson Inc., Chamber of Commerce Group Insurance, Standard Life, and others.
If you aren’t sure whether direct billing is available for your insurance company, please call us or your insurance company to clarify. Sometimes depending on the type of coverage or policy you have with your insurance company; you may need to pay out of pocket and submit the receipts for reimbursement.
Direct billing is also made for all WCB or MVA related injuries.
The number of treatments will vary depending on the problem and individual. After a thorough assessment, the therapists will discuss their treatment plan for the rehabilitation process.
No, physiotherapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However, some health insurers may require a doctor’s referral for massage, chiro, and acupuncture before they authorize coverage of fees.
